The Blanchard Laboratory at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai seeks a skilled, creative, and motivated scientist to study how genetic and environmental factors shape the human brain’s vulnerability to neurodegenerative disease. The lab investigates cellular and molecular mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders to identify potential therapeutic strategies. It develops and applies human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-based brain models, including multicellular organoids and assembloids, integrated with genomic, computational, and systems-level approaches. Research uses human iPSC models, post-mortem human brain analysis, and mouse models to support mechanistic discoveries and translational research. Research areas include Alzheimer’s genetic risk mechanisms such as APOE biology; neurovascular and glial contributions to neurodegeneration; lipid metabolism and metabolic stress in the aging brain; human brain organoid and assembloid engineering; and multi-omics analysis of human brain tissue and disease models. The position is based in the Nash Family Department of Neuroscience at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. The lab offers mentorship, career-development opportunities, and an intellectually stimulating research environment.
