The Blanchard Laboratory at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking a skilled, creative, and motivated scientist to study how genetic and environmental factors shape the human brain’s vulnerability to neurodegenerative disease. The laboratory investigates cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders, with the goal of identifying therapeutic strategies. Research uses advanced human iPSC-based brain models, including multicellular organoid and assembloid systems, alongside genomic, computational, and systems-level approaches. Projects span Alzheimer’s genetic risk mechanisms such as APOE biology; neurovascular and glial contributions to neurodegeneration; lipid metabolism and metabolic stress in the aging brain; human brain organoid and assembloid engineering; and multi-omics analysis of human brain tissue and disease models. Experimental platforms also include post-mortem human brain analysis and mouse models. The laboratory is part of the Nash Family Department of Neuroscience at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. The environment offers access to core facilities and collaborative opportunities across neuroscience, genomics, stem cell biology, and translational medicine, as well as mentorship and career development opportunities.
