Associate Scientist, Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Translational Imaging

Merck•South San Francisco, CA
•$82,000 - $92,000

About The Position

The Translational Imaging group at the company’s Research Laboratories in South San Francisco, California, is seeking a highly motivated scientist for a postdoctoral fellowship. The fellow will develop and apply advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) approaches to investigate skeletal muscle physiology, metabolism, and health in metabolic disease. The work focuses on quantitative imaging biomarker development and translational imaging technologies for noninvasive assessment of muscle composition, function, and energetics in preclinical models. The position combines MRI physics, imaging technology development, and muscle physiology research in a multidisciplinary drug discovery environment. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow Program is designed to provide industrial postdoctoral researchers with an academic focus in a commercial environment, supported by the resources, reach, and expertise of a large pharmaceutical company. Fellows are expected to drive innovative research while developing scientific independence and technical leadership.
