About The Position

Omidyar Network (ON) is a philanthropic organization dedicated to guiding the digital revolution towards shared power, prosperity, and possibility. The Programs and Policy team focuses on the culture, governance, and business of digital technology, aiming to shape societal governance and amplify shared agency through grantmaking and advocacy. This role is for an early career professional to work alongside colleagues and network partners, gaining valuable experience in programmatic areas. The Associate will help identify and scope new portfolio investments, support the grantmaking process, research emerging issues, and collaborate with grantees and partners on coalitions, policy, and advocacy. This is a three-year fixed-term, full-time position based in either Washington, DC or San Francisco, requiring employees to reside within 100 miles of their assigned office.

Requirements

  • Passion for Omidyar Network’s vision to bend the arc of the digital revolution toward shared power, prosperity, and possibility.
  • 2-3 years of relevant full-time work experience.
  • Excellent research, analysis, problem solving, and written communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills, with an attention to detail and ability to track and execute multiple projects at once.
  • A creative, curious, and an entrepreneurial spirit with a high degree of comfort with change and ambiguity.
  • High degree of comfort working autonomously on projects and tasks, as well as collaboratively with colleagues and external partners.
  • A team‑first mindset and an enthusiasm for learning.
  • Current U.S. work authorization.

  • Prior experience in tech policy, AI tech or governance, competition, labor and future of work, advocacy and campaigns, tech equity, privacy and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the discovery and due diligence process of prospective grantees.
  • End-to-end execution, monitoring and support of grant lifecycle, including collating relevant materials for diligence and reporting, and tracking correspondence.
  • Partner with Portfolio Insights and Engagement staff to improve existing grantmaking processes and apply learnings.
  • Maintain internal project management infrastructure to ensure robust knowledge management for assigned portfolio(s).
  • Support team leads with program management, including stakeholder management, learning discussions and meetings, and coordination.
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for grantees, partners, and other external stakeholders.
  • Represent Omidyar Network at public events, as needed.
  • Engage diverse voices and coalitions to identify learnings from Omidyar Network’s programmatic work to inform our current partnerships.
  • Conduct research on emerging issues and potential areas of programmatic engagement, as needed.
  • Maintain a pulse on issues related to emerging digital technology, spot and raise trends.
