About The Position

Worth Rises seeks a dynamic Policy Campaigns Associate to support its policy campaigns across the country. This role requires a high-level thinker and doer experienced in grassroots organizing and legislative campaigns. The Associate will report to the Director of Policy Campaigns & Government Affairs and assist in executing the organization's policy campaign strategy. Worth Rises is a non-profit advocacy organization dedicated to dismantling the prison industry and ending the exploitation of those it touches. They work to expose the commercialization of the criminal legal system and advocate to protect economic resources extracted from affected communities.

Requirements

  • At least two years of professional experience providing high-quality support to legislative campaigns.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple campaigns and projects at once with efficiency, skill, and calm.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted working relationships with partners and community members, which includes exhibiting reliability, delegating effectively, and practicing empathy.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Regular and disciplined practice of active listening, seeking clarification, and note taking.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Policy Campaigns & Government Affairs in executing the organization’s policy campaign strategy.
  • Support policy campaigns, building coalitions, facilitating stakeholder meetings, conducting research, monitoring legislative calendars, developing collateral (e.g., letters, petitions, fact sheets, talking points, etc.), advocating with decision makers, planning direct actions, coordinating events, supporting communications, and tracking progress.
  • Monitor bill movement, hearings, and other legislative activity across assigned states, maintaining tracking systems and providing timely updates to the team.
  • Coordinate coalition efforts, partner engagement, and logistics in support of state campaigns.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with advocacy partners, stakeholders, and directly impacted individuals in both active and past campaign states to support implementation.
  • Develop and manage contact databases and outreach systems for community partnerships to enable consistent engagement and mobilization for campaign actions.
  • Implement base-building strategies in directly impacted communities to elevate their voices and center their leadership, analysis, and stories.
  • Help prepare testimony, briefs, and advocacy materials, including letters, petitions, fact sheets, and talking points, and support campaign events, actions, and content development.
  • Work across Policy, Corporate, and Narrative teams to streamline coordination and project management.
