About The Position

Albany Medical College is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative individual for an Associate Professor (non-tenure track) position to serve as the director of the Clinical Investigation program and to participate in the instruction of basic and biomedical human physiology. This non-tenure track faculty position is ideal for early-career educators seeking to build a career in the setting of academic medicine. The successful candidate will join a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment dedicated to training students in aspects required for conducting research in the clinical setting such as writing applications to an Institutional Review Board (IRB) IRB, study design and performance of clinical trials, and interpretation of complex health data including statistical analysis. The individual will also participate in the training of students in physiology/pathophysiology across the educational programs of the college. This appointment carries with it all rights and responsibilities associated with employment at the College, along with a faculty title of Associate Professor, (non-tenure track), and is contingent upon approval by the College’s Committee on Appointments, Promotion, and Tenure.

Requirements

  • Applicants should have a PhD in Biomedical Science or a related field of study.
  • Demonstrated experience in administering advanced level courses in physiology or other related fields of science such as biology.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serving as a course director for AMC 550 Fundamentals of Clinical Research and AMC 601 Design and Analysis of Clinical Studies.
  • Coordinate admission of students into the Certificate in Clinical Investigation program.
  • Monitor progress of students through their research requirements in the Certificate of Clinical Investigation Program (AMC 501A Research A and AMC 501B Research B) including assisting students in choosing a clinical mentor, and monitoring progress of the research project.
  • Participate as a lecturer and small group leader in MCP, UME and CRNA physiology/pathophysiology curriculums.
