About The Position

The Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI), University Health Network (UHN), and the Department of Medical Imaging, Temerty Faculty of Medicine (TFOM), University of Toronto, are seeking applicants for the JDMI UHN Chair in Medical Imaging and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for a five-year term. The Department of Medical Imaging, TFOM has 350 faculty members. The Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI) is comprised of 100 academic radiologists with an annual volume of exams of approximately 700,000. The Chair will undertake roles as agreed upon by the site and University of Toronto, such as: research, education & training, partnership development (collaborations, internal and external, knowledge translation and deployment of discoveries into clinical practice and commercialization, plus leadership and advisory roles). The Chair may be used for the development and support of research, education and other scholarly activities in Artificial Intelligence in collaboration with academic radiologists in the Joint Department of Medical Imaging. The Chair will be based at the University Health Network, and if the Chair holder is a clinician, they are expected to become a member of the UHN academic practice plan and will be entitled to additional support commensurate with academic and clinical activities.

Requirements

  • Hold or be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor within the Department of Medical Imaging, University of Toronto
  • Hold an MD with board certification in Diagnostic Radiology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or its equivalent and/or PhD in a field related to imaging analysis, computer vision or artificial intelligence
  • At least 5 years of practical or research experience in AI
  • Prior publication record as first or senior author in AI
  • Prior experience on projects involving analysis of medical images
  • If a practicing clinician, must hold, or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario

  • Compensation will be in accordance with the uniform average salary of a Radiologist in the Province of Ontario, with a range that exceeds $300,000 CAD per annum.
