About The Position

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders ( CSD ), within the Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, is seeking a department Chair. The Chairperson of the department of CSD is a 12-month position that reports to the Dean and serves as the chief administrative and academic leader of the department. The Chairperson will be expected to provide visionary leadership of innovative programs with strong educator-researcher emphasis. In addition to the general oversight of the department, he or she will be responsible for strategic planning; budget development, management and allocation; recruitment and retention of faculty and students; faculty, staff, and student development; management and improvement of curricula; evaluating faculty performance; program assessments and reviews, obtaining and maintaining accreditation; fundraising; interacting with other departments and university leaders to represent the goals of the department. The chairperson must implement strategies to increase recruitment, retention, and graduation rates of students in all degree programs and work with faculty to develop research infrastructure.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a PhD in Communication Sciences Disorders, Speech and Language Pathology, Health Communication, or closely related degree with a significant research track record aligned with appointment at the associate or full professor rank.
  • Prior teaching experience in relevant baccalaureate and/or graduate
  • Three years of teaching and research experience related to the at comparable institution.
  • Three years’ experience in academic administration
  • Ability to establish and sustain a strong research enterprise, and have pedagogical skills to teach in areas relevant but not limited to healthcare economics, healthcare finance, data analytics, healthcare quality and patient safety and health information management.
