About The Position

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for an Associate Professor or Professor in Counselor Education within the College of Education. This is a tenure-track faculty position with responsibilities including teaching graduate-level courses (master's and doctoral), conducting research, advising students, maintaining program accreditation standards, and contributing to the program. As a Tier I university, faculty are expected to maintain a record of professional activities such as research, publications, grant work, contributions to professional associations, and program development. The successful candidate will support the strategic goals of the college and university. The Counselor Education program is committed to fostering an inclusive and culturally rich learning environment and seeks applicants who can teach in a diverse university community and help students from diverse backgrounds succeed. The department and counseling programs are dedicated to producing "advocates and leaders to serve diverse populations, to enhance wellness, and to promote social justice for individuals, families, schools, and communities." Requirements

  • Earned doctorate from a CACREP-accredited program in counselor education and supervision from an accredited college or university as recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
  • Licensed or license eligible as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor or School Counselors in the State of Nevada
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, scholarly activity including securing external funding, and established leadership in professional counseling organizations
  • Robust research agenda with significant publications in counseling and related journals
  • History of working with and mentoring students in research, to include dissertation committee service
  • Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully meet tenure criteria as outlined in the departmental bylaws in research, teaching, and service (for tenured rank)

  • Full-time teaching experience
  • Content knowledge/expertise in one or more of the CACREP-core and specialty areas within our programs
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds
  • Supervisory credential and or state endorsement as a clinical supervisor
