About The Position
The NCI-Designated Hollings Cancer Center (HCC) and the Department of Public Health Sciences (DPHS) at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) are seeking a tenure-track Associate Professor to lead a new Implementation Science Initiative. This initiative aims to accelerate the translation of cancer research into real-world improvements in prevention, screening, treatment, and survivorship. The role involves providing expertise, infrastructure, training, and strategic partnerships to bridge the gap between evidence-based research and its adoption in clinical and community settings. The position offers opportunities for leadership, innovative research, mentorship, and collaboration with clinicians, researchers, community partners, and health systems. The successful candidate will serve as Associate Director of the Implementation Science Initiative, applying implementation science methods to optimize cancer prevention and control innovations. An established track record of external funding, particularly from NIH/NCI or other federal agencies, or strong promise thereof, is desired. The candidate should also demonstrate a commitment to collaborative, interdisciplinary research and mentoring early-stage investigators, along with contributions to academic leadership.
Requirements
- PhD, MD, DO, DrPH, ScD or equivalent degree with training in implementation science, medicine, epidemiology, public health, informatics and data science, nursing, psychology, anthropology, behavioral science, behavioral economics, health services, health economics, communication, decision sciences, sociology, or other related fields
- Extensive cancer-relevant and implementation science research experience
- Extensive peer-reviewed publication experience, commensurate with career stage
- Established track record in implementation science-focused research
- Established record of external funding, or demonstrate strong promise to obtaining funding, preferably from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), including the National Cancer Institute (NCI), or other federal agencies.
- Strong commitment to collaborative, interdisciplinary research
Responsibilities
- Lead a new Implementation Science Initiative within the HCC Cancer Prevention and Control Program.
- Provide centralized implementation science expertise, infrastructure, training, and strategic partnerships.
- Bridge the gap between evidence-based cancer research and its adoption in clinical and community settings.
- Contribute leadership, innovative research, and mentorship to the growing initiative.
- Build collaborations with clinicians, researchers, community partners, and health systems.
- Serve as Associate Director of the newly launched Implementation Science Initiative.
- Apply implementation science methods and frameworks to optimize cancer prevention and control innovations and practices.
- Mentor early-stage investigators.
- Contribute to academic leadership.
