Associate Producer, Unreserved, English Services, (On-site)
About The Position
CBC Network Radio is looking for two Associate Producers to be assigned to the program Unreserved. Unreserved is the radio space for Indigenous community, culture and conversation. It is an hour-long weekly program and podcast that brings Indigenous perspectives to stories and showcases Indigenous storytelling and experiences from across the country. The Associate Producer will have a strong connection to the Indigenous Communities and a deep knowledge of Indigenous issues, and will create content that develops and amplifies Indigenous stories, voices and talent. Reporting to the Senior Producer, the Associate Producer will be responsible for generating story ideas, tracking down experts and storytellers, and pitching stories. As an Associate Producer, you are a talented writer/storyteller, a strong critical thinker, and have relevant experience in broadcasting. With appropriate direction from one or more producers, you will participate in the production, direction and/or post-production of a radio program and/or program segment; produce content and encourage conversation in our social media community; and write online articles.
Requirements
- Minimum two years relevant experience in radio broadcasting
- Deep knowledge of and connection to Canada’s Indigenous community
- Strong pitching, chasing and writing skills
- Strong digital and social media knowledge
- Excellent team player
- Demonstrated leadership abilities
- Critical thinking skills
- Initiative and creativity
- Experience working in the field
- English (Reading - C - Advanced)
- English (Speaking - C - Advanced)
- English (Writing - C - Advanced)
