The Multi-Asset Solutions (MAS) group within Asset & Wealth Management focuses on developing tailored investment strategies and solutions using advanced multi-asset portfolio techniques. MAS manages customized multi-asset class mandates for institutional investors, employing rigorous methods in asset allocation, portfolio design, risk management, and analytics. The team is seeking an experienced Associate to join the MAS Portfolio Management team in New York, focusing on Strategic Partnership Portfolios. This role involves hands-on portfolio construction and management, requiring strong analytical skills to manage investment exposures across various asset classes and strategies according to client objectives and constraints.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of investment management experience.
  • Successful track record of employing strong quantitative skills, detail-orientation, organization, risk management, and control orientation.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present complex investment ideas clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Operate as a Portfolio Manager (PM) on the Strategic Partnerships Portfolio Management Team, managing multi-asset class portfolios in line with client objectives, internal investment policies, and constraints.
  • Participate in investment idea generation through Asset Class Working Groups.
  • Exercise investment judgment and expertise, with the expectation of performing key portfolio management responsibilities within a few months as a primary PM.
  • Contribute to and grow to lead PM efforts on in-house tail risk hedging and other strategies.
  • Help lead portfolio management analytics development and maintenance, serving as a bridge between portfolio managers and engineers using Python.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and manage risks and opportunities of underlying investments.
  • Create investment and portfolio construction frameworks across asset classes, enhancing expertise in investment alternatives.
  • Manage portfolio risk across various investment vehicles and product desks, including exposure, currency, and cash management, and investment manager/vehicle oversight.
  • Work closely with senior PMs to execute strategic and dynamic investment ideas, determining optimal instruments to trade based on client-specific, regulatory, and market considerations.
  • Structure trades to facilitate portfolio activity across asset classes and product types (equities, fixed income, currencies, alternatives) and instruments (futures, forwards, ETFs, options, swaps, funds, SMAs).
  • Work closely with the Central Trading Desk overseeing trade execution.
  • Manage derivative-based overlay strategies to enhance the risk management profile of portfolios and/or capture market risk premia.
  • Work with technology teams and strategists to enhance portfolio management tools for better investment decisions and outcomes.
  • Review new portfolio design and investment strategies for client portfolio suitability and adherence to MAS investment philosophy.
  • Serve as the investment-side project lead for complex portfolio events, including onboarding new client mandates and portfolio restructurings, coordinating across internal teams, external managers, and trading counterparties.
  • Lead projects aimed at enhancing trading and risk management processes, infrastructure, and analytics.
