About The Position

Florida Power & Light Company is seeking a technical individual to be part of the FPL Power Generation Solar Operations Team. The Associate Power Generation Engineer will be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of large-scale universal solar and/or battery facilities within the state of Florida. This individual will serve as the site safety manager, ensuring the safety of all personnel and equipment onsite, and that the site(s) are in environmental compliance with all required regulatory permit requirements. Under limited guidance, the individual will perform a variety of routine tasks to gain experience and familiarity with engineering staff, methods, practices, and programs. Subsequently, they may independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures, using judgment for adaptations and modifications. Engineers on the FPL Solar Team will spend a significant amount of time in the field (outside) troubleshooting and repairing all aspects of our solar facilities. This includes performing routine tasks such as preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and root cause analysis. At times, the individual will be on-call and responsible for the East Florida Sites, coordinating with the Renewables Operation Control Center, OEMs, Vendors, and Contractors as required. This individual should be highly motivated with a strong bias for action and capable of working independently as well as part of a team. A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is highly preferred.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program
  • 0+ years of experience
  • Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)

Responsibilities

  • Spend a significant amount of time in the field (outside) troubleshooting and repairing all aspects of solar facilities.
  • Perform routine tasks such as preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and root cause analysis.
  • Be on-call and responsible for the East Florida Sites, coordinating with the Renewables Operation Control Center, OEMs, Vendors, and Contractors as required.
  • Complete assignments with clear and specific objectives that require the investigation of a limited number of variables.
  • Perform work involving conventional plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment with relatively few complex features for which there are few precedents.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
