About The Position

Wells Fargo is hiring an Associate Personal Banker (SAFE) for its National Branch in Powhatan, Virginia. This frontline role builds customer relationships by supporting everyday banking needs through in-branch interactions, scheduled conversations, and proactive outreach. The banker learns about customers’ goals and connects them with suitable banking products, services, and digital tools. The role supports account openings, service requests, and credit applications while working with branch teammates to provide a consistent, high-quality customer experience. It combines relationship building, customer service, business growth, cash handling, and compliance responsibilities. Wells Fargo provides training and coaching to support career growth and mobility. The position requires working a schedule that includes Saturdays and flexing between cash handling and customer banking activities, with an emphasis on account openings and ongoing account support. SAFE registration is required at employment; Wells Fargo initiates the process after the start date. The position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. The listed base pay range is $21.00–$28.00, and employees may also be eligible for incentives.

Requirements

At least 6 months of experience interacting with customers, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, education, or a combination.
Ability to work a schedule that includes Saturdays.
SAFE registration is required at the time of employment; Wells Fargo initiates the process after the start date.
Loan Originators must meet LO/CFPB requirements and comply with Wells Fargo policies, including standards related to financial responsibility, character, fitness, and criminal background.
Ability to comply with applicable Wells Fargo policies and risk and compliance requirements.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in financial services or a highly regulated, customer-facing role, demonstrating comfort with structured processes, accuracy, and service expectations.

Responsibilities

Build lasting customer relationships through proactive, meaningful conversations that support financial well-being and deepen engagement.
Conduct discovery-driven conversations to understand customer needs and connect them with relevant banking products, services, and solutions.
Identify opportunities, promote solutions, and make appropriate referrals to support branch growth and customer and business goals.
Support everyday banking needs, including new account openings, service requests, and credit applications.
Handle cash and perform teller line activities, processing transactions accurately and maintaining compliance and operational standards.
Use and adopt digital tools and technologies to enhance the customer experience and support evolving banking needs.
Deliver accurate, compliant service and exercise sound judgment within defined risk controls.
Collaborate with branch teammates to coordinate handoffs to licensed bankers or other specialists.
Flex between cash handling and customer banking activities, including account openings and ongoing account support.
Follow applicable risk and compliance programs, policies, and procedures; identify and escalate concerns and remediate issues as required.
