Optum has an immediate opening for a friendly, patient-focused, and detail-oriented Associate Patient Care Coordinator. This role is responsible for completing set processes and protocols, working cooperatively with the care team to support the organization's vision and mission, delivering excellent customer service, and adhering to Lean processes. The position supports the team in meeting financial, clinical, and service goals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1+ years of customer service experience or healthcare related experience
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, etc.)
  • Ability to cover other offices if needed
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include late night until 8:00 pm

Nice To Haves

  • Epic experience
  • Knowledge of insurance carriers and managed care plans
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • 1 plus year of experience working in medical office position performing duties such as scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays, and maintaining medical records
  • Ability to work independently and as a team, and maintain good judgment and accountability
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with health care providers
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet all deadlines
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand and interpret information from others

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients, family members and guests with a friendly smile
  • Assists patients with signing in and completing registration
  • Enters and scans patient’s demographic and insurance information into Epic
  • Verifies insurance eligibility and benefit information; informs patients of insurance benefits
  • Collects co-payments and patient balances
  • Scheduling appointments and procedures in an organized and efficient manner
  • Answers incoming phone calls in a courteous and prompt manner; directs calls and takes messages
  • Follow the Payment Security policy and procedures according to Optum Medical guidelines
  • Ability to maintain a work queue list- complete any pending actions ie referrals, scheduling appointments
  • Ability to maintain the in-basket messaging and work the daily DARs
  • Check In and Check Out Patients
  • Assists physician and clinical staff by coordinating follow up care for patients; schedules referral appointments for patients and obtains authorization for diagnostic testing
  • Sends patient records to primary care physician
  • Assists with other tasks as assigned
  • Handle resolution/inquiries from members and/or clinical team
  • Assist with onboarding new employees
  • Responsible managing daily schedule
  • Responsible for EPIC superuser status
  • Ability to support all staff and leadership in their roles
  • Ability to de-escalate and resolve patient complaints
  • Provide guidance / consultation to other team members
  • Educate the team on the continuum of integrated care
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned
