About The Position

This role supports ABS bankers in creating and developing business ideas across Non-Traditional asset classes. The Associate will be responsible for drafting initial client presentations and pitch book materials, coordinating transaction execution with various third parties, and reviewing offering and transaction documents. The position also involves preparing sales memos and internal approval documents, interacting with internal and external parties for seamless transaction execution, and coordinating the settlement of Non-Traditional ABS transactions. Collaboration with other teams on M&A and strategic transactions where ABS plays a role, and maintaining internal databases of market data are also key aspects of the role. The Associate must proactively identify operational risks and control deficiencies, comply with Firm Policies, and escalate any identified issues to management and relevant risk functions.

Requirements

  • College graduate with history of strong academic performance
  • Series 7, 63 and 79 (will be required within a reasonable time after joining if not currently held)
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience, ideally in the ABS space
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Ambition, eagerness and curiosity to learn
  • Solutions-oriented approach to issues and problems
  • Energetic self-starter who functions well in fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Willingness to work closely with and learn from both senior and junior team members
  • Appropriate licenses and registrations
  • Authority to transact on behalf of the firm

  • Supports Non-Traditional ABS origination team within the broader ABS Origination and Global Spread Products businesses
  • Provide critical support to senior ABS bankers for client coverage
  • Regular coordination with ABS syndicate, ABS sales, ABS trading, ABS financing, Corporate Banking, Global Investment Banking and other internal stakeholders to deliver the best of RBC to our clients
  • Strong computer and analytical skills
  • Considerable attention to detail is required

Responsibilities

  • Support ABS bankers in creating, developing and presenting business ideas across Non-Traditional asset classes.
  • Take lead in drafting initial versions of client presentations and pitch book materials and incorporating comments from junior and senior ABS bankers.
  • Coordinate transaction execution across third parties (issuers, lawyers, rating agencies, accountants, trustees, etc.).
  • Review offering and transaction documents.
  • Prepare sales memos and internal approval documents.
  • Interact with internal and external parties to ensure seamless execution on mandated transactions.
  • Coordinate the settlement of Non-Traditional ABS transactions.
  • Collaborate with junior and senior ABS bankers and other internal parties on M&A and other strategic transactions where ABS is expected to play a role.
  • Maintain internal databases of market data, including spreads/yields, deal pricing details, trading data, league tables, etc.
  • Proactively identify operational risks / control deficiencies in the business.
  • Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities.
  • Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions on a timely basis.
