About The Position

Under general supervision, performs basic to moderately difficult administration functions for the corporate enterprise network and platforms and operating systems; installs, configures and maintains network, server and operating system software, hardware and associated systems software tools; responds to customer problems and requests for assistance; and performs related duties as assigned. The candidate hired will be required to pass a drug screening, background check and may be required to pass a job-related physical evaluation. Human Resources will screen applications and supplemental questionnaires. Candidates possessing the strongest skills and experience for this position will be forwarded to the hiring department for further evaluation and to determine who will be invited to the formal interview process.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in information systems, computer science or a closely related field; and one year of responsible network and systems administration experience in a Windows/Oracle-clustered environment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Knowledge of operating system architectures, characteristics, components and commands applicable to multiple platform operating systems.
  • Knowledge of network architectures and theory and principles of network design and integration, including topologies and protocols.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices and methods of systems/ network administration and maintenance, including configuration, performance tuning and diagnostic tools.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of disaster recovery.
  • Knowledge of tools and utilities used in monitoring and tuning systems, database and application performance.
  • Knowledge of basic principles and practices of cyber-security applicable to areas of assigned responsibility.
  • Knowledge of web technologies and design and administration concepts.
  • Knowledge of systems integration design concepts and practices.
  • Knowledge of customer relationship management concepts and practices.
  • Ability to perform basic to moderately difficult systems administration functions in a multi-segment, multi-platform and multi-operating system and network environment accurately and efficiently.
  • Ability to establish priorities and balance responsibilities for multiple activities to ensure timely, high-quality results.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software and connectivity problems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to prepare clear, concise and accurate reports, documentation and other written materials.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment within general policy guidelines.
  • Ability to keep technical skills current to meet continuing work responsibilities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain highly effective, customer-focused working relationships with managers, customers, consultants, vendors, employees and others encountered in the course of work.
  • A valid Nevada driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's Vehicle Insurance Policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Penetration testing experience and/or certification is beneficial.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and diplomatically to optimize effectiveness of the District/SNWA cyber security program.
  • Ability to analyze intelligence to better understand how a threat actor may behave, while using deductive reasoning and problem-solving skills to develop appropriate countermeasures.
