About The Position

The Associate Program Director serves as a clinical educator, ensuring the delivery of high-quality teaching, scholarship, and patient care as part of an ACGME-accredited Residency program. The Associate Director supports the administration, management, organization, evaluation, teaching, resident supervision, precepting, and scholarship. The Associate Director dedicates an average of twenty-four (24) hours per week to residency supervision and training, ensuring that all requirements are met while providing excellent clinical care. The Associate Director provides a minimum of sixteen (16) hours per week of direct patient care. The Associate Director receives annual training on a variety of topics, including but not limited to (a) all relevant policies and procedures, (b) the evaluation and assessment of residents, (c) core competencies and milestones, and faculty development.

Requirements

  • Physician with current, valid American Board of Family Medicine certification and an active, unrestrictive CA license to practice Family Medicine by the Medical Board of California.
  • Physician faculty members from other specialties must have current (American Board of Medical Specialties) certification in their respective specialties.
  • A minimum requirement of a valid BLS certification or higher, following the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in Family Medicine is preferred, preferably in Federally Qualified Community Health (FQHC).
  • A chief residency year or medical education fellowship or a minimum of 2 years of documented educational Residency Program experience in an ACGME or AOA-accredited Family Medicine residency program.
  • Experience in a Teaching Health Center or Community-Based Program preferred.
  • Completion of a community medicine fellowship is preferred.
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university program in Public Health, Business, or Health Care Administration, or other related fields preferred.
  • Experience in community engagement preferred.
