About The Position

A licensed and board-certified academic physician to provide education and administrative organization of Internal Medicine residents during experiences within Intermountain Medical Center. This position is an appointment of a faculty physician within the Intermountain Medical Center Department of Medicine. It includes a 0.25 FTE commitment to Graduate Medical Education, serving as a co-lead of the University of Utah Categorical Internal Medicine training program. The remainder of the FTE will be dedicated to other clinical responsibilities, such as a Hospitalist or clinic physician.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy.
  • Board certified or eligible in Internal Medicine.
  • At least one year of experience in graduate medical education.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and precepting Internal Medicine Morbidity and Mortality conference.
  • Assist the chief resident as needed for other educational responsibilities, such as noon conferences.
  • Work with Transitional Year leadership on faculty development for the hospitalist group.
  • Work in close collaboration with the co-APD at Intermountain Medical Center.
  • Function as a key member of the Executive Education leadership team that includes the Internal Medicine Program Director, and other Associate Program Directors at IMC, VAMC and UUMC, including working on residency focused improvement and education projects and Internal Medicine resident recruiting.
  • Supervise and assist the Chief Medical Resident assigned to Intermountain Medical Center.
  • Coordinate faculty evaluations of Internal Medicine residents on Intermountain Medical Center rotations.
  • Act as faculty preceptor for preliminary and categorical Internal Medicine residents as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Serve on Clinical Competency Committee and attend monthly meetings.
  • Review resident and student evaluations of medicine rotations (hospitalist teams, ICU, medicine consults, ID, etc.) quarterly.
  • Attend monthly Faculty Housestaff meetings for direct feedback.
  • Serve as an active member of Intermountain Medical Center’s Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC), attending quarterly meetings.
  • Assist in maintaining all requirements for accreditation of the Program and the Institution (IMC) with ACGME.
  • Meet annually with faculty to review resident evaluations.
  • Assist with supervising resident quality improvement projects at Intermountain Medical Center.
