We are currently seeking an Associate Mechanical Designer for the Metal Enclosed Switchgear (MES) IPT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and producing mechanical drawings for various metal-enclosed switchgear projects.

Requirements

  • Diploma or bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or a similar field.
  • 2+ years of experience designing switchgear or equivalent mechanical design experience.
  • Working knowledge of MicroStation, Solid Edge, or AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods and techniques.
  • Strong communication and organization skills as well an eye for detail.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of computer programming skills such as C, C++, or VBA is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Design of mechanical layout and manufacturing drawings of Metal Enclosed Switchgear per established industry and internal standards using CAD software.
  • Apply theoretical and practical knowledge of engineering concepts, materials, electrical and mechanical systems, and their components for switchgear manufacturing.
  • Prepare bills of materials for design-to-manufacture components, and external purchase items, for complete switchgear assembly.
  • Manage drawing updates to ensure latest revisions using internal drawing management tools.
  • Prepare and issue engineering change notices and orders for product release and engineering design changes.
  • Continuously develop switchgear application and design knowledge.
  • Support other departments in process of production such as fabrication, welding, and final assembly.
