About The Position

The Associate Manufacturing Engineer (Electrical Systems) supports day-to-day production of electromechanical and avionics assemblies in an airborne systems manufacturing environment. The role focuses on maturing electrical build processes, improving harness and PCBA readiness, and resolving production issues under an AS9100-compliant quality management system. The engineer helps transition products from late-stage prototypes into stable production by improving documentation, optimizing test workflows, designing simple electrical fixtures, and supporting first-article builds. The position is suited to an engineer with a strong electrical foundation who enjoys hands-on manufacturing, problem-solving, and working directly on the production floor. The role works closely with avionics and assembly technicians and serves as a connection between design engineering and production. Work may take place in an office, warehouse, or other facilities, with movement between departments, floors, and worksites. The position is onsite in Irvine, California, and requires less than 10% travel. Candidates must be legally authorized to work full-time in the United States without current or future employment visa sponsorship. No security clearance is required.

Requirements

  • At least 3 months of industry experience as a Manufacturing Engineer; internship experience counts.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and electronic schematics, wiring diagrams, PCBA documentation, and connector and harness drawings.
  • Experience supporting technicians on the production floor, including performing redlines and troubleshooting build issues.
  • Familiarity with electrical hardware such as PCBs, wiring harnesses, connectors, avionics modules, and test equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working hands-on with hardware.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, or mechanical engineering, or demonstrated equivalent skills.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States full-time without the need for current or future employment visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Altium experience or training; it is not required but is considered a strong plus.
  • Exposure to mechanical CAD for simple fixture design, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Exposure to Visio Professional.
  • Experience with ATPs, electrical test workflows, or bench testing.
  • Experience in regulated, low-volume, high-mix aerospace or defense manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Create and update work instructions, wiring diagrams, and electrical assembly workflows to ensure accurate, repeatable production.
  • Redline documentation during builds and coordinate with Quality and Design to correct discrepancies.
  • Support the creation and updating of electrical bills of materials, routers, and item cards.
  • Assist technicians in interpreting schematics, PCBA documentation, and harness drawings.
  • Provide hands-on production-floor support troubleshooting wiring issues, connector and cable assembly challenges, PCBA installation concerns, and electrical test anomalies.
  • Participate in first-article electrical builds, collect feedback, and assess the manufacturability of electrical subsystems.
  • Bridge design engineering and production when electrical build issues arise.
  • Support Acceptance Test Procedure execution by assisting with test setups, logging issues, and refining supplemental test instructions.
  • Design simple electrical fixtures, breakout cables, and test aids for repeatable electrical testing and harness verification.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline electrical assembly, reduce rework, and improve test clarity.
  • Support continuous-improvement initiatives such as reducing cable build times, improving harness routing consistency, and standardizing connector assembly workflows.
  • Contribute to ECN/ECR updates for electrical components and drawings.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, PCBA drawings, harness assembly documentation, and avionics integration diagrams.
  • Work with electromechanical assemblies involving harnesses, connectors, LRUs, PCBs, avionics hardware, and simple structural components.
