About The Position

We are looking for an Associate Manager, Communications (14-month contract). Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: London, Toronto, Winnipeg or Montréal. As Associate Manager of Communications, your primary role will be to support the development and execution of strategic communications plans for internal divisional and/or national audiences and the external advisor audience. You’ll also contribute to the development of messaging and initiatives that support our company brand and executive thought leadership, and informally guide colleagues and team members. The successful candidate for this role is a seasoned communications professional and confident partner to leaders. You thrive in complex, fast-paced environments where you’re empowered to make a difference on a high-performance team. A skilled strategic planner, you’re also recognized as an inspiring content creator and creative thinker focused on driving results.

Requirements

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree relating to communications, and at least 5-7 years of related experience. A combination of education and work experience will also be considered.
  • Outstanding communication skills with a demonstrated ability in writing and communications strategy development
  • Outstanding creativity skills and proficiency employing a broad range of communications tactics – from presentation tools such as PowerPoint to interactive email, video, infographics, social media and evolving digital platforms
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills and ability to work well with a national team in different locations
  • Demonstrated relationship management skills at senior levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated experience as a forward-thinker and a problem-solver, with excellent project management skills and the ability to execute strategic plans
  • Experience informally leading or coaching the efforts of others
  • Ability to effectively manage and deliver multiple projects in a quality and timely manner, independently and under pressure
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and a sense of urgency
  • Comfort with ambiguity and flexibility to adapt to a changing environment
  • Ability to handle sensitive/confidential information appropriately
  • Proficiency with common office software

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of SharePoint Online would be considered a strong asset

Responsibilities

  • Forge strong relationships with business leaders, partners and members of the Communications team to ensure delivery of solutions that meet business needs.
  • Support business results with strategic and tactical communication guidance, drawing on a big picture perspective aligned with business, culture and engagement strategies, and our company brand.
  • Manage communications schedules
  • Develop and execute communication strategies and plans for specific programs and change management initiatives, using a forward-thinking, holistic approach to anticipate potential issues and developing contingency plans.
  • Explore new ideas, methodologies, and alternative ways to reach outcomes as part of our broader team.
  • Collaborate with all members of the Communications team, actively supporting the delivery of a consistent strategic communication support model across our Canadian business and ensure consistent messages, positioning, timing and language.
