About The Position

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has a unique combination of education, research, and clinical programs that encourages and supports teamwork and diversity. This position participates in a group 24 hours a day 7 days a week, 365 days a year on-call rotation where each member of the group takes call for 1 week at a time. Under direct supervision, provides accurate and timely troubleshooting of security system and network cabling components. Performs installations of electronic control systems, which may include door access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, communication, cable management, electronic locks, Wi-Fi locks, network switches, point sensors, signaling devices, and associated hardware. Responds to situations where systems have failed, and action must be taken to isolate or repair problem equipment, software, or make configuration changes to return systems to full functionality.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in computer science or a related field of study, or High School diploma/GED plus two (2) years of experience in cabling, low voltage systems, carpentry/building maintenance required.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Arkansas Alarm License, Level 1
  • Customer Service experience.

Responsibilities

  • Install, program, and commission electronic control systems, which may include door access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, communication, structured cabling, cable management, electronic locks, Wi-Fi locks, network switches, point sensors, signaling devices, and associated hardware.
  • Troubleshoot and repair problems with equipment, software, or configuration and return systems to full functionality.
  • Provide end-user support and assistance with badge access, video surveillance, electronic control systems, and other network system components.
  • Documents work in progress and solutions to trouble calls using call tracking software.
  • Provides manager with daily status reports of ongoing projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
