Associate Immigration Attorney - Removal Defense
About The Position
Konare Law is hiring an Associate Immigration Attorney for a partner-track role focused exclusively on immigration removal defense litigation. The attorney will manage an individual docket of removal defense cases from day one, with mentorship, firm infrastructure, and appellate support. The position includes courtroom advocacy, legal analysis, and representation in removal proceedings, as well as contributing to the growth and strategic direction of the firm’s removal defense practice. Over time, the attorney is expected to cultivate referral relationships, contribute to the firm’s visibility, and demonstrate leadership toward a potential equity partnership.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with a U.S. state bar.
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in immigration removal defense, EOIR proceedings, or BIA appeals.
- Courtroom or hearing experience in immigration removal court (EOIR), before Immigration Judges (IJ), the BIA, or federal court on removal defense matters.
- Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills in removal defense contexts.
- Personal or professional commitment to serving immigrant communities facing removal proceedings.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and readiness to grow with the firm.
Responsibilities
- Manage an individual docket of immigration removal defense cases.
- Represent clients in removal defense proceedings and related litigation.
- Conduct legal research and analysis, prepare written legal work, and provide oral advocacy.
- Cultivate referral relationships and contribute to the firm’s visibility.
- Help shape the strategic direction and growth of the removal defense practice.
- Demonstrate legal excellence and leadership in firm development.
