About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and driven Kidnap & Ransom (K&R) Underwriter to join our Specialty Lines team. This role will be responsible for managing and growing a profitable portfolio of Kidnap & Ransom business countrywide while building strong broker relationships and maintaining disciplined underwriting standards. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Requirements

10+ years of underwriting experience, with a strong preference for Kidnap & Ransom, Political Risk, or Specialty Lines
Proven track record of managing and growing a profitable underwriting portfolio
Strong technical underwriting, risk assessment, and pricing skills
Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively and make sound underwriting decisions within delegated authority

Established broker relationships and strong market presence
Experience mentoring or leading junior team members
Excellent communication, relationship management, and presentation skills

Responsibilities

Underwrite and manage a national portfolio of new and renewal Kidnap & Ransom business
Meet or exceed production, retention, and profitability targets
Drive profitable growth through disciplined risk selection, pricing, and portfolio management strategies
Prepare and present underwriting referrals with supporting analysis to internal and external stakeholders
Negotiate terms and conditions using approved underwriting guidelines and rating methodologies
Build, develop, and maintain strong relationships with broker partners to enhance visibility and market share
