About The Position

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Specialty Lines (Kidnap & Ransom) team at Marsh. This role will be based in New York City and Bethesda. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office. We are seeking an experienced and driven Kidnap & Ransom (K&R) Underwriter to join our Specialty Lines team. This role will be responsible for managing and growing a profitable portfolio of Kidnap & Ransom business countrywide while building strong broker relationships and maintaining disciplined underwriting standards. Requirements

  • 10+ years of underwriting experience, with a strong preference for Kidnap & Ransom, Political Risk, or Specialty Lines
  • Proven track record of managing and growing a profitable underwriting portfolio
  • Strong technical underwriting, risk assessment, and pricing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively and make sound underwriting decisions within delegated authority

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and manage a national portfolio of new and renewal Kidnap & Ransom business
  • Meet or exceed production, retention, and profitability targets
  • Drive profitable growth through disciplined risk selection, pricing, and portfolio management strategies
  • Prepare and present underwriting referrals with supporting analysis to internal and external stakeholders
  • Negotiate terms and conditions using approved underwriting guidelines and rating methodologies
  • Build, develop, and maintain strong relationships with broker partners to enhance visibility and market share
