The John A. Burns School of Medicine is seeking an Associate/Full Professor for Graduate Medical Education (GME). This position involves maintaining and developing GME performance metrics, policies, and procedures. The role contributes to the growth of GME, particularly on neighbor islands, and supports institutional strategic planning and resource development for GME. A key aspect is advancing initiatives for resident, fellow, faculty, and staff well-being, fostering a respectful and inclusive learning environment. The position requires maintaining a strong, collaborative relationship with Hawai‘i Residency Programs, Inc. (HRP) leadership. The incumbent may serve as the ACGME Designated Institutional Official (DIO), overseeing all ACGME-accredited programs sponsored by the institution. Responsibilities include engaging in the education, training, and supervision of faculty, residents, fellows, and medical students. The role also supports the development of program directors and other educational leaders, and collaborates with faculty to ensure seamless transitions from undergraduate to graduate medical education. Developing research and/or quality projects in education or health system science is also expected. The position involves serving on University Committees and participating in institutional, regional, and national GME committees. Supervision of deputy DIOs, assistant DIOs, and GME program staff may be required. For the Full Professor level, the role includes assuming professional leadership within the school and medical profession.
