Associate, Fraud Operations

Capital One•McLean, VA
•$66,700 - $91,200

About The Position

The Associate, Fraud Operations supports Capital One’s Travel platform by managing day-to-day fraud operations, mitigating risk, preventing losses, and protecting customers. The role covers fraud incident handling and high-risk transaction reviews, chargeback and dispute strategy optimization, and management of third-party agent performance and quality. It is a high-ownership operational position that also involves complex fraud troubleshooting, partner coordination, and systematic responses to edge cases and fraud spikes. The associate will investigate and resolve fraud escalations, high-risk transactions, and account anomalies; coordinate operational responses to large-scale incidents; and perform time-sensitive privacy and compliance workflows, including customer data deletion requests. The role also involves improving chargeback response templates, facilitating monthly reviews of outsourced agents, maintaining agent procedures, and partnering with internal data and risk teams to connect transaction data across systems. Insights from fraud reviews will help identify data gaps and inform platform strategy. As the role develops, the associate may support the transition to native in-house fraud signals, identify opportunities to automate manual reviews and chargeback representments, and assist with technology migrations into the enterprise risk stack. Depending on capacity and business needs, the role may also expand into payments operations such as payment routing, virtual card health, and ledger reconciliation.
