About The Position

Provectus is hiring an early-career Associate Forward Deployed Engineer to help enterprises deploy applied AI, Claude, agentic systems, and customer data into measurable business outcomes. The role focuses on Financial Services & Insurance and Healthcare & Life Sciences, using pre-built AI Blueprints that have already been shipped for customers and improving them based on lessons from client engagements.

Paired with a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer, you will learn clients’ workflows and business needs firsthand, then help redesign those workflows and build production software. You will contribute to LLM applications, agentic workflows, and retrieval and extraction pipelines; define and measure evaluations; deploy systems on AWS; and feed what you learn back into the Blueprints. The team is measured by client business results and adoption, not hours.

The position is based in New York and requires working onsite at the office three days per week. The first 90 days include onboarding to the Blueprints and delivery stack, learning evaluation practices and a client’s industry, joining an engagement to learn the client’s work, and taking ownership of a scoped part of a production system with code review and support from a senior FDE. The role includes a senior FDE on every engagement, a named mentor, regular feedback, and a path to Forward Deployed Engineer.

Requirements

• A degree in computer science, engineering, or another STEM field.
• 0–2 years of experience; internships, co-ops, and research are included.
• Projects integrating AI as part of the software development lifecycle that the candidate can explain in depth, including what worked, what broke, and what they would change.
• Hands-on basics with Claude Code.
• Strong programming fundamentals in Python or TypeScript.
• Curiosity and ability to learn unfamiliar subjects quickly and ask questions, especially about how businesses work.
• Good communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical subjects to non-engineers.
• Willingness to spend substantial time learning a client’s work before writing code.
• Ability to work onsite at the New York office three days per week.

Nice To Haves

• Cloud fundamentals in AWS, Azure, or GCP; containers; or CI/CD.
• AI/ML coursework or foundations.
• Comfort with ambiguity and open-ended engagements.
• Interest or coursework in financial services, insurance, healthcare, or asset management.
• Experience with data pipelines or SQL; classical ML or MLOps, including PyTorch, SageMaker, or MLflow; or infrastructure as code.
• Open-source contributions, hackathon projects, or public writing on applied AI.
• Claude certification or AWS certification.

Responsibilities

• Learn a client’s function and workflow firsthand, then help redesign it alongside a Senior FDE and Forward Deployed Executive.
• Build and ship production code for LLM applications, agentic workflows, and retrieval and extraction pipelines.
• Build evaluation harnesses by defining what successful performance means and measuring it before building features.
• Deploy systems to production on AWS and incorporate lessons from engagements into the AI Blueprints.
• Take ownership of a scoped part of a production system, with code review and guidance from a senior FDE.
• Drive client adoption and build credibility with client engineers and operators.
• Learn client business needs and real-world business domains before automating workflows.
