Associate Forward Deployed Engineer
About The Position
Provectus is a Premier AWS partner and an Anthropic Preferred Partner helping enterprises apply AI, agentic systems, and their own data to business processes. The company works with clients worldwide, with a focus on Financial Services & Insurance and Healthcare & Life Sciences. Its work uses five pre-built AI Blueprints: Submission Flow, Portfolio Lens, Asset Flow, Revenue Flow, and Evidence Lens. As an Associate Forward Deployed Engineer, you will work with a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer on client engagements. You will spend time with clients learning their workflows and business needs, then help rebuild those processes and develop production code. Engagements begin from an existing Blueprint, and learning from the field is fed back into the Blueprint. This early-career role is intended for engineers who want to learn how AI is deployed in real-world settings by building systems. The position is based at the company's New York office and requires on-site work three days per week. The role offers a senior FDE pairing on each engagement, a named mentor, regular feedback, and a stated path to Forward Deployed Engineer. Work includes frontier delivery across Cowork Activation, Agentic SDLC, and Blueprint Activations in Financial Services and Healthcare, with production experience in regulated industries.
Requirements
- A degree in computer science, engineering, or another STEM field.
- 0–2 years of experience; internships, co-ops, and research are included.
- Projects integrating AI as part of the software development lifecycle that the applicant can discuss in depth, including what worked, what broke, and what they would change.
- Hands-on basics with Claude Code.
- Strong programming fundamentals in Python or TypeScript.
- Curiosity and ability to learn unfamiliar subjects quickly and ask good questions, especially about how real businesses work.
- Communication skills sufficient to explain complex technical subjects to non-engineers.
- Willingness to spend substantial time learning a client's job before writing code.
Nice To Haves
- Cloud basics, including AWS, Azure, or GCP; containers; and CI/CD.
- AI/ML coursework or foundations.
- Comfort with ambiguity.
- Interest or coursework in financial services, insurance, healthcare, or asset management.
- Experience with data pipelines or SQL; classical ML or MLOps (PyTorch, SageMaker, MLflow); or infrastructure-as-code.
- Open-source contributions, hackathon projects, or public writing on applied AI.
- Claude certification or AWS certification.
Responsibilities
- Learn a client's function from the inside and help redesign it alongside a senior FDE and the Forward Deployed Executive.
- Build and ship production code for LLM applications, agentic workflows, and retrieval and extraction pipelines.
- Build evaluation harnesses before features by defining what success means and measuring it.
- Take systems to production on AWS and feed what is learned into the Blueprint.
- Grow into ownership, drive client adoption, and build credibility with client engineers and operators.
