About The Position

This role is for an Associate Field Engineer specializing in ControlWave SCADA, based out of the Miami, FL office. The position involves providing expert support for PLCs and/or DCS systems as part of a customer support engineering team. Responsibilities include analyzing and addressing problems related to the installation, start-up, and operation of sophisticated distributed control systems and sub-systems at customer locations. The role offers opportunities for growth and professional development within Emerson's Power & Water Solutions business, which focuses on upgrading existing power plant systems with automation controls and instrumentation to promote sustainability and longevity of the North American power grid.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a similar technical curriculum, or relevant field engineer experience in lieu of education.
  • Experience with ControlWave SCADA.
  • Understanding of basic networking.
  • Computer assembly/troubleshooting experience.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 70-80% to meet business needs, including some weekends and overnight stays of 1-3 weeks at a time.
  • Ability to adhere to Emerson's vehicle policy.
  • Possess a valid US driver's license.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with DCS/PLC controls.

  • Experience in the power and water/wastewater treatment industries.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site instruction of customer personnel.
  • Write and modify maintenance procedures.
  • Conduct quality control tests and/or product evaluation.
  • Provide complete and timely reports on all activities, emphasizing problem definition.
  • Direct personnel engaged in the installation of control systems, sub-systems, and equipment, or their routine modification/repair.
  • Provide direct engineering advisory assistance to the customer and act as a liaison within the company on equipment-related issues.
  • Cultivate relationships with internal project teams, customer project teams, and contractors.
  • Apply troubleshooting, problem-solving, decision-making, and planning skills.
