About The Position

The Associate Field Application Engineer is an entry-level electrical or computer engineer who supports customer adoption of AMD adaptive SoCs and FPGAs as part of Avnet’s sales and technical team. The role supports customer designs from initial architecture and device selection through development, debug, and production, and helps generate registrations, design wins, and related solution opportunities. The engineer works closely with customer engineering teams, AMD and Avnet sales, senior FAEs, and supplier partners to provide pre- and post-sales technical support. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and authorized to work for any U.S. employer; visa sponsorship is not available. Travel within the assigned territory is required, and willingness to relocate for career advancement is essential. The role assists with account plans, product presentations, customer discovery, and device selection. Working with senior FAEs and customer engineers, the Associate FAE helps assess system requirements and identify AMD platforms for applications involving programmable logic, embedded processing, DSP, AI acceleration, high-speed interfaces, and adaptive computing. The position supports customer development with AMD Vivado Design Suite, Vitis, embedded software tools, IP, evaluation boards, and documentation. Under guidance, the engineer assists with design entry, synthesis, implementation, timing closure, simulation, programming, hardware bring-up, and debug; provides first-line technical support; documents and escalates issues; and develops demonstrations, proof-of-concept designs, workshops, and presentations. The Associate FAE also identifies complementary system needs and collaborates with Avnet specialists and supplier partners on complete solutions. The role qualifies and tracks opportunities from concept through production, maintains opportunity and technical milestone information, helps resolve roadblocks, completes assigned training and certifications, trains Avnet sales teams and customers, and shares market and competitive feedback. The engineer develops expertise in digital design, FPGA architecture, embedded systems, high-speed interfaces, and customer-facing technical sales. Work is performed within assigned territories or accounts on opportunities of limited to moderate complexity, following established processes and leadership direction.
