About The Position

Boeing’s Engineering Puget Sound North organization is actively seeking an Associate Facilities Plant Civil Engineer to join our Facilities Engineering and Technology team in the Puget Sound area. This position is expected to be 100% onsite with work performed at our Renton, WA and Seattle, WA sites. As a Facilities Civil Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting facilities critical to manufacturing and airplane production operations. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineering disciplines, maintenance and operations, to evaluate environmental impacts, underground utility systems, roadways and airplane flight lines. The position contributes to long-term maintenance planning efforts that ensure optimal facility performance and support ongoing airplane programs. Responsibilities include the design, development, procurement, and modification of civil engineering and environmental systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Structural, Civil or Aerospace Engineering or Physics from an ABET accredited program
  • 1+ years of experience in operations, engineering, and maintenance practices across various facilities and infrastructure systems, including but not limited to architectural, civil, electrical, and mechanical disciplines
  • 1+ years of experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, schematics, and construction specifications
  • 1+ years of experience using AutoCAD or similar software

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience applying engineering principles and techniques when providing technical solutions to difficult problems while complying with local and federal regulations
  • Experience leading and collaborating within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment

  • Lead and manage the full lifecycle of complex electrical and multi-discipline facility projects—from concept through design, permitting, construction, and close-out
  • Review and approve detailed design documents to ensure compliance with building codes, electrical regulations, and internal standards
  • Spearhead asset reliability strategies including root cause analysis, life-cycle evaluations, and system modernization efforts
  • Develop and present project plans, budgets, and technical reports to internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies
  • Select materials, equipment, and systems in alignment with engineering best practices and sustainability goals
  • Oversee contractor selection, manage vendor relationships, and ensure on-time, on-budget execution
  • Serve as the technical authority on facility electrical systems, including medium and low voltage distribution, emergency power, lighting, and more
  • Ensure proper documentation, archiving, and permit compliance across projects
  • Mentor junior engineers and represent Boeing on cross-functional engineering teams and technical committees
  • Assist others in the design process by providing input on vendor selection/reviews, regulatory interface with government/non-profit agencies, and project management objectives
  • Use appropriate resources to produce project drawings, specifications, and permit application packages in accordance with project requirements
  • Transmit customer requirements to engineering, provide preliminary materials, equipment, and system design, and develop preliminary project schedules
