About The Position

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) Road Design Division is seeking an Associate Engineer Underfill in Carson City, NV. This role involves developing contract plans for roadway projects across the state, producing computer-aided drafting (CADD) drawings for various elements like roadway cross sections, interchanges, roundabouts, sidewalks, traffic control, and striping. The position requires preparing typical sections, profiles, cross sections, and special details; calculating and compiling plan quantities, preparing estimate summaries, and incorporating quantities into the estimating system. The incumbent will also produce traffic control and striping plans, provide technical input on design decisions, and utilize computer applications for data calculation and manipulation. Key tasks include preparing and verifying roadway geometrics using InRoads and MicroStation, reviewing and recommending changes to design plans, researching project data, and entering quantity and estimate data into NDOT systems. This role functions within a team to complete contract plan sets, with assigned tasks such as quantity calculation, estimate development, CADD drawing production, and coordination with other NDOT divisions. The position requires developing knowledge of and applying roadway design standards from AASHTO, FHWA, MUTCD, and NDOT policies. Additional duties include verifying the accuracy of others' work, acting as a team leader during field reviews, and assisting with training.
