The Nevada Department of Transportation is hiring for a Staff 1, Associate Engineer as an underfill for a Staff 2, Associate Engineer located within the District Betterment Group in Las Vegas, NV. Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors. Incumbents within this division will have primarily stormwater responsibilities. Duties will include stormwater inspections of NDOT infrastructure; review of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans; review of Runoff Control Plans; assuring commercial source stormwater encroachments comply with the approved permit terms; preparing technical engineering memoranda and letters relating to encroachment permit activities; regular site reviews; implementing field changes; and performing field inspections. Duties may also include participation in the planning, design, analysis and inspection of construction and maintenance of transportation and highway systems, bridges, and other structures. In addition, Associate Engineer duties are typically distinguished from advanced Engineering Technician duties by a greater responsibility for reviewing, interpreting and using judgment to make recommendations and determinations based on data received, organized, compiled and summarized by lower level technical staff including Engineering Technicians.
