About The Position

The Associate Engineer, IT Laboratory Systems at Bristol Myers Squibb supports laboratory and manufacturing benchtop IT systems within a GMP-regulated environment. This role involves providing hands-on technical support, troubleshooting, and operational execution to ensure system availability and compliance across manufacturing and laboratory operations. The position primarily requires supporting non-standard business hours, including nights, extended hours, weekends, holidays, and scheduled site shutdowns, serving as a critical off-hours resource for independent issue resolution, escalation, and execution support to maintain GMP operations continuity. The role demands sound technical judgment, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and active participation in both steady-state operations and new system implementations.

Requirements

  • One year of technical support experience or relevant IT certifications required.
  • Basic understanding of laboratory equipment and IT systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute assigned tasks with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams as needed.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with routine maintenance and troubleshooting of IT systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work non-standard schedules, including nights, extended hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Flexibility to support day shift operations as required to meet business needs, including coverage during planned and unplanned absences.
  • Ability to report onsite within a reasonable timeframe to support operational needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with laboratory software and hardware is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for laboratory benchtop equipment and IT systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and IT hardware.
  • Assist in the installation and configuration of laboratory software and hardware.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and laboratory protocols.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and support activities.
  • Assist in the training of laboratory personnel on the use of IT systems and equipment.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in laboratory technology and IT systems.
