About The Position

The Associate Electrician supports Journeyman Electricians with installation and repair of automated industrial control equipment. This role involves installing and maintaining industrial control equipment and instrumentation such as loop controllers, variable frequency drives, solid state reduced voltage starters, level controls, ethernet motor control centers, belt scales, and control panels. The position requires a thorough understanding of electrical systems, the ability to install and repair electric motors and equipment (120, 240 and 480V), and knowledge of basic hand tools and machine shop equipment. The Associate Electrician will also be responsible for the proper use of all electrical test equipment to perform electrical/electronic repairs of production equipment, completing preventive maintenance tasks as scheduled, and documenting finished work. Occasional driving of a pick-up truck or maintenance vehicle may be required for plant operations or picking up parts from local vendors. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong machine electrical background
  • I/O knowledge (hardwired/discrete, digital/ethernet, and analog) and the ability to read electrical schematics
  • Computer skills - Windows environment, loading and setup of various software platforms desired
  • Ability to read prints including mechanical and electrical prints
  • Possess excellent analytical skills, data interpretation
  • Knowledge of safety practices such as MSHA, lockout/tagout, NFPA 70E and proper use of PPE
  • Strong communication skills
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 2-4 years combined schooling and industrial experience

Nice To Haves

  • Trade or associate’s degree preferred
  • Electrician – Apprentice License preferred

Responsibilities

  • All duties under the direction of a Journeyman Electrician

  • Thorough understanding of electrical systems

  • Complete preventive maintenance tasks as scheduled and document finished work
  • May drive a pick-up truck or maintenance vehicle in the plant and/or to pick up parts from local vendors
  • Other duties as assigned
