About The Position

Sofidel America is looking for a skilled Electronic and Instrumentation Technician to join their team. This is a long-term position in a stable and supportive environment. The role focuses on providing expertise to improve operational systems, product quality, and cost-effectiveness. The technician will be responsible for electrical and instrumentation maintenance, including component repair, system programming, and troubleshooting to ensure the plant operates safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and technical skills.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and computer skills.
  • Experience in an industrial environment.
  • Associate’s Degree (two-year college or technical school) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, Electro-Mechanical Engineering or Automation/Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum Requirement: High School or equivalent.
  • Two plus years of experience in related areas.

Responsibilities

  • Perform or assist with operations to maintain workflow and meet schedules and quality requirements.
  • Notify supervision of unusual equipment or operating problems and the need for additional material and supplies.
  • Maintain a safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules.
  • Participate in meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, and resolve problems.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Support Sofidel America’s Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP.
  • Work from verbal and written instructions as well as work orders.
  • Use designated computer systems to input work orders, track required work, and track parts in inventory.
  • Provide preventative electrical maintenance on electrical equipment and instrument systems.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems related to instrumentation and electrical failure, report conditions, and recommend steps to be taken.
  • Monitor instruments to determine if they are within range.
  • Perform preventative maintenance such as changing contacts, checking motors, and operating robotic systems.
  • Maintain robotic systems, including all mechanical, electrical, and electronic components.
  • Perform PLC/DCS programming, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Repair electrical and electronic systems, including electromechanical production equipment.
  • Collect PLC input and output data to monitor equipment efficiency and assist in planning future conversion operations.
  • Program computerized monitoring systems and monitor output to determine if settings are correct.
  • Install cables, conduit, and instrumentation for new equipment or instruments.
  • Examine equipment to identify potential problems.
  • Participate in process improvement efforts, identify inefficiencies and design flaws.
  • Collaborate with other team members to resolve problems and determine root causes.
  • Recommend improvements and make adjustments.
  • Manage and work with contractors and vendors to monitor and improve efficiency and output, enhance technology, and ensure plant safety.
  • Read and use electrical schematic wiring diagrams.
  • Keep abreast of new innovations and techniques in the specialized field.
  • Assist in the on-the-job training of others.
