About The Position

Join a respected estate and elder law practice helping families navigate sophisticated planning, aging, incapacity, and end-of-life matters. This experienced attorney will immediately support the Managing Member/Founder while independently handling complex estate planning and elder law matters. This is a specialized position requiring at least five years of direct Estate Planning and Elder Law experience. Attorneys whose backgrounds are primarily in unrelated or general practice areas will not qualify.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Active New Jersey attorney license in good standing.
  • 5+ years of direct Estate Planning and Elder Law experience required.
  • Hands-on experience drafting sophisticated estate-planning documents.
  • Experience managing estate, trust, Medicaid, or guardianship matters.
  • Ability to independently manage complex and sensitive client situations.
  • Strong legal research, writing, advocacy, and client-counseling skills.
  • Ability to work full-time onsite and additional hours when necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Elder law litigation and crisis-management experience strongly preferred.
  • Direct elder-care advocacy experience strongly preferred.
  • LL.M. in Elder Law or Estate Planning strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Draft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.
  • Develop complex asset-protection and Medicaid planning strategies.
  • Advise clients on estate, inheritance, and tax implications.
  • Manage estate and trust administration matters.
  • Prepare fiduciary accounts and estate and inheritance tax returns.
  • Guide Medicaid spend-down strategies and application processes.
  • Represent clients in Medicaid fair hearings when needed.
  • Handle guardianships, will contests, and trust-related litigation.
  • Advise families during death, incapacity, and elder-care crises.
  • Advocate for elderly clients in institutional and home-care settings.
  • Communicate with courts, beneficiaries, financial institutions, and advisors.
  • Supervise paralegals and oversee accurate matter progression.
