About The Position

Simon Fraser University is establishing a new medical school in Surrey, B.C., with a vision for a medical education system that emphasizes team-based learning in community settings, patient-centred environments, and a curriculum that integrates social, environmental, and prevention contexts. The Associate Director, UGME Curriculum Administration, will provide operational leadership for Years 2 and 3 of the Undergraduate Medical Program (UGME), overseeing clinical placements, family medicine experiences, and elective rotations within the Fraser Health region. This role involves designing and refining systems for curriculum delivery, managing the interface with clinical partners, ensuring a consistent learner experience across sites, and collaborating with various stakeholders to align learning experiences with educational objectives and accreditation standards.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in education, health administration or other relevant discipline and five years of experience in program administration within a medical education environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of undergraduate medical education program structures, accreditation requirements (including CACMS standards), and the regulatory and operational context of medical training in Canada.
  • Excellent program and project management skills, including planning, scheduling and managing complex operations across multiple sites and partners.
  • Excellent partnership-building and negotiation skills, particularly in working with clinical partners, health authorities, and community organizations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively across academic, clinical, administrative and community audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex, evolving environment with multiple partners and competing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Provides effective operational leadership for the planning and delivery of Years 2 and 3 of the Medical School Undergraduate Program (UGME), including immersive clinical placements, longitudinal family medicine experiences, and elective rotations across the Fraser Health region.
  • Designs, implements and continuously refines the systems, processes and workflows required to deliver a high-quality, accreditation-aligned curriculum across multiple clinical sites.
  • Leads the operational interface between the School of Medicine and clinical partners.
  • Ensures placement readiness and consistent learner experience across sites.
  • Works collaboratively with faculty, staff and external partners to align clinical learning experiences with curricular objectives, competency-based education principles, and accreditation requirements.
