About The Position

The Associate Director, Talent Acquisition, within the Human Resources Department, is responsible for leading the strategic direction and operational excellence of MIT’s central Talent Acquisition function in a highly decentralized recruiting environment. This role involves setting business strategy, developing and ensuring compliance with talent acquisition policies, and establishing governance frameworks to support the Institute’s hiring goals. The position will collaborate closely with academic and administrative leadership to ensure central HR recruitment strategies align with Institute priorities, rapidly changing workforce trends, HR analytics, and increasingly complex compliance regulations. Key responsibilities include co-managing critical vendor partnerships with Strategic Sourcing (over $29 million in annual spend), establishing performance expectations, service-level agreements, and compliance requirements. The role also ensures seamless integration with Oracle Cloud while maintaining full recruiting functionality in PeopleFluent throughout the transition, driving user adoption across MIT, and aligning central Talent Acquisition resources to support new functionality. Furthermore, this position leverages hiring analytics to measure performance, engages with community and stakeholder partners across MIT’s divisions, and leads the Talent Acquisition teams’ AI strategy and adoption to enhance recruiting effectiveness and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible HR experience
  • Demonstrated record of accomplishments in staffing/recruiting, preferably in higher education or a matrixed environment
  • Experience managing significant vendor relationships and contracts
  • Experience with talent acquisition platforms and reporting/analytics
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations governing hiring
  • Experience leading a Talent Acquisition team in a higher education or research environment
