About The Position

The Associate Director, Scientific Publications provides strategic and operational leadership for global publication activities, ensuring the timely, compliant, and high-quality dissemination of scientific data. This role combines hands-on operational execution, overseeing publication processes, vendor management, and financial oversight.

Requirements

  • BA/BS required; advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, MS) preferred.
  • 5+ years in scientific publications, medical affairs, or clinical development within pharma/biotech.
  • Previous experience in oncology, immunotherapy, or R&D environments.
  • Proven experience in publication management, vendor oversight, and budget management.
  • Advanced project management, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment with high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute global publication operations strategy aligned with medical and scientific objectives.
  • Oversee end-to-end publication activities including abstracts, manuscripts, posters, congress deliverables, and digital content.
  • Contribute to publication planning across disease areas in partnership with Medical Affairs, HEOR, Clinical, and Commercial teams.
  • Serve as a key liaison across Finance, Regulatory, Legal, and external partners.
  • Drive continuous improvement through data insights, automation, and AI-enabled tools.
  • Ensure all publications comply with internal SOPs, ICMJE, and Good Publication Practice (GPP) guidelines.
  • Manage execution timelines, quality, and submission processes using publication systems (e.g., Datavision).
  • Support and/or contribute to development of scientific content (abstracts, posters, manuscripts, encore publications).
  • Facilitate publication approvals and ensure proper archiving and audit readiness.
  • Develop and track KPIs, dashboards, and reports for publication performance and financial metrics.
  • Provide data-driven insights to inform decision-making and improve efficiency.
  • Lead operational support for scientific congresses, including calendar management, poster printing/shipping, and QR code generation.
  • Coordinate execution of abstracts, posters, and presentations in alignment with publication plans.
  • Oversee end-to-end vendor lifecycle including selection, contracting, training, performance management, and relationship oversight.
  • Manage budgets, forecasting, invoice reconciliation, and financial tracking for publication activities.
  • Deliver training and onboarding for internal teams and vendors on systems and processes.
