About The Position

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is seeking an Associate Director, Psychiatry - CPEP to join the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx. This role involves clinical leadership and teaching within the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP), a state-of-the-art acute service providing evaluation, stabilization, and consultation. The position offers opportunities for leadership, teaching, and learning with a mix of academics and clinical service, in a comfortable and cordial work environment. There are also opportunities for additional paid sessional work, with no mandatory on-call requirement. The CPEP Associate Director will work under the direct supervision of the Medical Director of CPEP and will be responsible for supervising attending psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric PA staff, residents, medical students, and psychology interns. The role also involves overseeing the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care, collaborating with leaders in other departments, and playing a key role in patient safety and clinical effectiveness. Leadership in undergraduate and graduate medical education, incident review management, and ensuring compliance with OMH regulations are also key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
  • Active New York State Medical License.
  • 2-3 years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct supervision of attending psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric PA staff, residents, medical students, and psychology interns.
  • Oversee the delivery of high quality, evidence-based care.
  • Directly work with leaders in the other areas of the Department including both inpatient and ambulatory programs, as well as the Emergency Medicine Department.
  • Assume an important role in Patient Safety and Clinical Effectiveness.
  • Provide leadership in undergraduate medical education including active participation in the clinical and didactic teaching of medical students and graduate medical education of residents.
  • Incident review management and participation in departmental IRC meetings.
  • Review/revise guidelines for standards of care ensuring that CPEP meets the OMH regulations.
  • Provide leadership for all tours.

  • Annual Base Salary: $296,000 based on 40-hour work week.
  • Additional compensation available for extra call or sessional/per diem hours.
  • Projected bonus of up to $40,000 (based on previous year’s average), contingent upon meeting quality and productivity targets.
