About The Position

The Associate Director - Valuations role is based in Los Angeles, CA, or Denver, CO, and is a hybrid position. This role performs valuations of clients' Derivatives portfolios and conducts a valuation control function on fund portfolios. These valuations are critical for collateral margin calculations, providing daily PNL, and in the fund's NAV process. SS&C's valuations are generated using internal analytics based on standard industry market models, with data sourced from leading market vendors. The valuation control function involves an independent verification of final source prices to ensure compliance with fund valuation policies and SS&C's internal pricing procedures. This position involves managing staff leaders for multiple departments or professionals with specialized skills, exercising broad decision-making authority to achieve goals, establishing operational objectives, providing tactical leadership, and coordinating with senior management on cross-departmental issues. The role is accountable for departmental results and participates in the development and implementation of company policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, related field or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of experience in derivatives valuation, pricing, valuation control, fund accounting, or a related financial services function.
  • Knowledge of market data, pricing models, and independent price verification processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience leading or managing a small team.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet daily deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Excel and financial systems

  • Experience with valuation or market data platforms is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily valuation of client derivatives portfolios and valuation control activities for fund portfolios.
  • Oversee valuations used for collateral and margin calculations, daily P&L, and fund NAV processes.
  • Review and validate pricing and market data in accordance with fund valuation policies and SS&C pricing procedures.
  • Perform independent price verification and investigate pricing discrepancies and valuation exceptions.
  • Ensure valuation processes are accurate, timely, well-controlled, and properly documented.
  • Lead and develop a team of valuation professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and performance management.
  • Partner with Operations, Fund Accounting, Risk, Technology, and other teams to resolve issues and meet business deadlines.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and recommend updates to procedures and controls.
  • Support client inquiries, audits, and other valuation-related requests.
  • Manage department activities and ensure delivery of quality results within established policies and procedures.
