About The Position

Reporting to the Director of the Center for Environmental Inquiry and Sustainability Programs (Director), the Associate Director of the Center for Environmental Inquiry and Sustainability Programs (Associate Director) is responsible for overseeing research, education and land management activities on university natural lands, and supports the Director in achieving the larger mission of CEI. In conjunction with the Director, the Associate Director assists with setting long-term goals and strategies, identifies and implements priority projects, and monitors the outcomes of natural lands, supervising staff, students and volunteers.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental management.
  • 3 years of progressively responsible and applicable management and/or supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental studies, biology, education or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in restoration management techniques at nature preserves or similar natural areas, including management of invasive species.
  • Intermediate proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • At least beginning proficiency in Geographic Information System (GIS) or other spatial data analysis software.
  • Must possess and/or obtain and thereafter maintain a California Driver’s License valid for the operation and maintenance of any vehicle or equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. degree and higher education experience.
  • Experience in outdoor education, interpretation or volunteer management.
  • Current CPR and Wilderness First Aid certification.
  • Knowledge of Google Suite and Peoplesoft.
