This position, classified as Level 3 / Class 1717, is a Part-Time (0.5 FTE), Exempt, Benefitted, Non-Represented role with a hiring salary range of $42,500 - $50,000 annually. The Associate Director of LLM, MLS, and Alumni Advising is responsible for counseling, advising, and providing professional development resources to students pursuing non-JD degrees (LLM and MLS candidates) at the law school. Additionally, this role is primarily responsible for advising alumni (outside the recent graduate class) in their job search and assisting hiring alumni with posting and filling open positions. The Director will also provide JD student advising as needed and will meet weekly with the Assistant Dean of the Career Development Office (CDO), participating in other CDO efforts and programming. The position involves minimal supervision in managing its portfolio of programs and resources. The ideal candidate will assess current programming efficacy, articulate a vision for mentoring and alumni engagement to positively impact student experience and employment outcomes, and creatively integrate this vision into the collaborative CDO environment. Typical duties include counseling and coaching LLM students on professional development, U.S. job opportunities, bar admissions, and the legal market; designing and delivering trainings/workshops for LLMs on job searching, interviewing, and networking; creating and maintaining relationships with alumni to optimize opportunities for students; providing one-on-one counseling and interview preparation for LLM students; managing LLM involvement in job fairs; preparing career-related materials and website content; collaborating with other campus departments; evaluating career programming effectiveness using student outcomes; recommending enhancements for non-JD students and alumni; identifying new employer and alumni engagement opportunities; and performing other related duties as assigned. The role also involves providing additional support for other non-JD degree candidates, conceiving and implementing support strategies (especially online or group settings), and supporting alumni job seekers and employers by advising alumni, liaising with alumni seeking to fill positions, and developing programming to improve this support. The Director will also develop and maintain relationships with alumni and employers to expand opportunities and work closely with the Advancement Office on programming and resource distribution. Support for JD students will be provided as needed.
