Associate Director, KOL Engagement (Endocrinology)

BridgeBio Pharma
$175,900 - $222,000Remote

About The Position

BridgeBio Pharma is preparing to launch encaleret, the first oral calcium-sensing receptor (CaSR) negative allosteric modulator designed specifically for patients with Autosomal Dominant Hypocalcemia Type 1 (ADH1). ADH1 is a rare, genetic endocrine disorder caused by gain-of-function mutations in the CaSR gene, resulting in chronic hypocalcemia and a constellation of serious long-term complications inadequately addressed by conventional therapy. The KOL Engagement Leader, Endocrinology is a newly created, field-based commercial role that will serve as the primary bridge between BridgeBio and the endocrinology thought leader community ahead of and through the encaleret launch. This individual will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, and sustaining relationships with key opinion leaders across academic medical centers, community endocrinology practices, and relevant professional societies — generating insights that inform commercial strategy and ensuring that leading endocrinologists are well-prepared to identify and treat appropriate ADH1 patients. Two positions are available: one covering the Eastern U.S. and one covering the Western U.S. Both are remote-based roles with up to 60% travel.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience in commercial roles (KOL engagement, marketing, sales leadership, or medical affairs)
  • Demonstrated experience engaging endocrinology KOLs and/or rare disease thought leaders at the national and regional level
  • Deep familiarity with the endocrinology landscape, including academic medical centers, endocrine professional societies, and relevant disease communities
  • Proven ability to design and execute KOL engagement strategies, advisory boards, and speaker bureau programs in a compliant, outcomes-driven manner
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills; comfortable operating in a matrixed environment across commercial, medical, and access functions
  • High-level strategic thinking with the ability to convert field insights into actionable commercial strategy
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a patient-first orientation — rare disease experience in a launch-stage or early commercial environment is strongly valued
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven self-starter capable of operating independently with strong accountability and organizational discipline

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in hypoparathyroidism, ADH1, or calcium/phosphate metabolic disorders
  • Familiarity with CaSR biology, genetic endocrine disease, or rare endocrine disorder management
  • Prior experience at a rare disease or specialty biotech company during product launch
  • Established relationships within the endocrinology and/or rare disease KOL community

Responsibilities

  • Lead the identification, profiling, tiering, and strategic mapping of KOLs across endocrinology, rare disease, and genetics communities relevant to ADH1 and encaleret
  • Build and maintain a robust national KOL engagement plan, with regional focus aligned to territory geography (East or West)
  • Cultivate long-term, trust-based relationships with academic thought leaders, community endocrinologists, and rare disease specialists who influence ADH1 diagnosis and management
  • Lead commercial advisory board development and execution to surface field insights and inform brand strategy
  • Support the development and management of the encaleret speaker bureau, including structure, speaker identification and training, and innovative delivery formats
  • Lead KOL engagement planning and execution for major endocrinology and rare disease congresses (ENDO, AACE, NORD, and others)
  • Partner with Medical Affairs to ensure appropriate field presence and KOL interaction at scientific congresses, consistent with compliance guidelines
  • Develop relationships with professional societies relevant to hypoparathyroidism and ADH1, identifying opportunities for disease education and collaborative programming
  • Serve as the commercial field lead for advancing awareness of ADH1 as a distinct clinical entity, distinguishing it from other forms of hypoparathyroidism
  • Proactively gather and synthesize KOL insights on CaSR gain-of-function testing, diagnostic pathways, and unmet needs in ADH1 management — feeding these insights back into commercial and marketing strategy
  • Partner with the Endocrine Account Manager (EAM) field team to align KOL engagement priorities with HCP outreach and territory activation
  • Monitor the competitive and scientific landscape, including evolving clinical practice guidelines, emerging data, and relevant publication activity
  • Work closely with Marketing, Medical Affairs, Market Access, and Patient Advocacy to ensure coordinated and compliant KOL engagement across functions
  • Collaborate with agency partners on the development of educational resources and KOL programming materials
  • Develop targeted KPI frameworks and measurement plans; track progress against engagement goals and report to Sr. Director, Head of Marketing
  • Champion compliance in all KOL engagement activities, ensuring alignment with BridgeBio policies, OIG guidelines, and applicable regulations
