About The Position

Louisiana State University invites applications for the position of Associate Director, Employer Development and Relations within the LSU Olinde Career Center (OCC). Reporting to the Senior Director, this position serves on the leadership team of the LSU Olinde Career Center and has primary responsibility for all employer relations and the employer outreach strategy for the office. The Associate Director, Employer Development and Relations plays a critical role in managing the execution of the university’s centralized career services function. The Associate Director will lead the development of a strategy to increase the number of part-time jobs, internships, co-ops, and full-time positions available to LSU students. This work will require the Associate Director to evaluate and expand existing employer relationships, assess gaps in industry, and create an outreach framework that drives measurable growth in the volume and breadth of opportunities. The Associate Director for Employer Development and Relations will lead the charge for LSU to optimize employer and student engagement while ensuring the office remains agile and forward-looking in a competitive environment. Serving as a key advocate for LSU by positioning the university as a top destination for employers seeking early talent, the Associate Director will leverage both quantitative and qualitative employer engagement data to clearly articulate the return on investment of an LSU education to internal and external audiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Five years of related work experience in career services, workforce development, human resources, recruiting, business development, client relationship management, alumni & donor relations, or other related fields.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience of full-time staff.

  • Requires periodic travel to support departmental goals and organizational objectives.
  • As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.
  • All candidates must have valid U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and maintain that valid work authorization throughout employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in higher education administration, college student development, college student personnel administration, human resources, business or a closely related field.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the Employer Development and Relations team to strategically identify, cultivate, strengthen, and evaluate employer relationships to maximize student career opportunities.
  • Directly supervises the Manager of Events, Manager of Employer Development, and On-Campus Recruiting Coordinator to provide comprehensive services to employers who seek to recruit talent through LSU.
  • Accountable for executing objectives and key results for Employer Development and Relations functions.
  • Recommends personnel actions to the department head and communicates those actions to direct reports.
  • Assists in measuring and reporting key results relating to employer engagement and student impact metrics.
  • Oversees the management of the employer core database, yearly outreach strategy, and recruitment offerings.
  • Leverages staff talents and office resources to meet student needs based on routine analysis of engagement data, student needs assessments and the academic calendar.
  • Translates department initiatives and goals to employers, faculty and staff through the creation of resources, services, events, and experiences.
  • Identifies and builds relationships with state, regional, national, and international employers for recruitment of LSU students.
  • Collaborates with college liaisons and faculty/staff to increase employment opportunities for students.
  • Provides consultation, support, and troubleshooting, from a “yes-first” mindset, to employers, students, and campus partners.
  • Works with employers to develop marketing strategies that enhance employer presence; manages expectations and promotes ethical standards.
  • Assists the Senior Director in translating and executing the Olinde Career Center’s strategic vision for an intentional and integrated career education experience for all students with primary responsibility for employer engagement.
  • Serves on the leadership team of the LSU Olinde Career Center providing leadership and support for the entire team.
  • Works collaboratively and proactively with leadership team members, managers, and staff to implement and execute the career center’s vision and goals, solving problems and mitigating roadblocks as they arise.
  • Provides leadership and support to Employer Development and Relations staff by strategically identifying, cultivating, strengthening, and evaluating employer relationships and engagement opportunities to maximize student career opportunities.
  • Demonstrates divisional attitudes and priorities in all aspects of work.
  • Ensures Employer Development and Relations outputs, including human resource decisions, administrative tasks, programs, services, events, experiences, and communications, exude a high degree of quality.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of the employer relations efforts and provide feedback on their effectiveness, along with solutions to mitigate issues and increase impact.
  • Embraces and executes a marginal gains approach and continuously improves services, events, programs, and experiences within the department each academic year.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Senior Director.
  • This includes, but is not limited to, supporting division- and institutional-wide efforts, including at least 40 hours per year dedicated to initiatives such as Move-In Day, Welcome Week, Family Weekend, Disability Services Finals Testing, and other special projects.
