About The Position

The Associate Director manages and trains a team of disability specialists. They lead the documentation review committee and direct reporting and data gathering efforts. This role assists in the development and implementation of appropriate assessment tools for evaluating DRC programs and services. The primary goal is to ensure compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and relevant State and University policies and procedures by identifying, facilitating, and coordinating accommodations for students with disabilities in academic and university-sponsored activities. The Associate Director also assists the Director with staff supervision and development, drafting and implementing policies and procedures, developing programs to raise awareness of disability issues, and consulting with faculty and staff on accommodations and accessibility. Direct supervision for staff, interns, and part-time employees is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • Three years of professional work experience with students in an educational setting.
  • Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Director with staff supervision and development.
  • Assists the Director with drafting and implementing policies and procedures in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Develops programs and initiatives to raise awareness of disability issues.
  • Consults with faculty and staff on issues related to accommodations and accessibility.
  • Provide direct supervision for staff, interns, and part time employees.
