About The Position

The Impact Finance & Markets division at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) provides technical and strategic leadership to create transformational impact with the private sector by translating the value of nature and conservation approaches into actionable, science-based strategies that can help solve societal challenges. The Associate Director of Development, Impact Finance & Markets (IFM), will play a key role in expanding philanthropic support for some of The Nature Conservancy’s most innovative conservation initiatives. Working closely with IFM leadership, fundraisers across TNC, and program teams around the world, you will help identify, cultivate, and steward donors interested in advancing solutions at the intersection of conservation, finance, and markets. In this role, you will build and manage a portfolio of individual, foundation, and corporate prospects while helping grow the pipeline of philanthropic support for IFM priorities. You will lead donor discovery efforts, develop and execute prospect strategies, and deepen relationships with existing supporters to create new opportunities for engagement and investment in conservation. You will partner with colleagues across the Conservancy to develop compelling proposals, coordinate donor strategies, and connect donor interests with high-impact conservation solutions. By building strong internal partnerships and engaging donors around IFM’s work, you will help secure the resources needed to advance conservation outcomes around the world.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years related experience or an equivalent combination.
  • Experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with fundraising constituents.
  • Experience in asking for and closing gifts of $50,000 or more.
  • Experience in managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, preferably in a large non-profit.
  • Experience working with fundraising principles and practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
  • Ability to design and manage fundraising plans, including individualized cultivation, solicitation and recognition plans.
  • Ability to determine an individual’s interests, capacity and potential for helping the Conservancy meet its goals, and act appropriately to tie those interests with the Conservancy’s work.
  • Demonstrated experience using listening, diplomacy and tact to build strong relationships and motivate donors and volunteers.
  • Proven ability to negotiate complex, high profile or sensitive agreements.
